I have a Aqua rain from Nitropack. They are great, American made, and Nitropack is amazingly fast shipping and great service.:ARMS1:

Re: Water Filters & Tablits
I bought a Sweet Water firter by MSR about a month ago. It pumps water pretty fast and can filter 200Gal.
I bought it as RSI and have only used it in the kitchen to check how it works but it pumped about a quart of water in 30 seconds. I stuck it in my budding Bug Out Bag along with 9 Mountian House meals. Tonight I bought a Whisperlite international back packing stove to boil water for the above meals. This stove can use Kerosene, Diesel, Gasoline and, Coleman fuel-White Gas. Very happy with both. |

Amish,
MSR makes Good Stuff; congrats on the Whisperlite. I know the waterfilters too are top quality. What I think is so great about their stuff is the availabilty of spare parts at dealers, and the well thought out designs. The waterworks and mini's are really nice because you can couple them directly to any nalgene type bottle or one of the msr dromedary bags and have no "issues" with contamination of your water after it has been filtered. Having some kind of prefilter material like finely woven flannel which you can wrap around the inlet tube helps keep that much more junk out of your element and extend its life that much longer. I would recommend a spare parts kit and O-rings for your stove and its pump. Maybe even a spare pump. Likely the stove can never break, but I have broken a pump. The thing still worked but would not lock onto a fuel bottle, so a spare, or maybe a whole other MSR bought on Ebay for about the same money as a spare pump might be a good idea. MSR has very good warranty service, but how can that work for you out in the "field"? The MSR stoves are really great for all the variety of fuels they can burn and their compact size. |
Re: Water Filters & Tablits
This morning I had the driveway breakfast. I hooked up the stove and boiled some water for a Mountian House meal and some hot coco. I wanted to see how things worked.
I used Coleman fuel and was happy with the stove. Burned hot, boiling water in 10 min. The freeze dried Lasagna was good. Stove works best with the aluminum foil heat sheild. Heck I have to go camping now to justify my shtf prep to others. |
